After the Wind

Set in the early 1950s, the novel's double plot describes events in Los Angeles following the death of newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst; and early events in the Korean War. The two-pronged plot involves two long-time friends, an ace reporter and a young marine officer who become enmeshed in harrowing and perhaps disillusioning events.
