In 1989 The Holly Springs Federated Improvement Women's Club sponsored a fund-raiser, acquiring money to renovate the Bessie Jones House at 160 Randolph Street. The purpose was to establish an African American Museum. The fundraiser (a book compilation) was entitled MARSHALL COUNTY BLACK FAMILIES HISTORIES. Sections on individual Black families were written by the family member donor who presented the topic for their family history. This writer was the organizer of the event. With that said, this book is dedicated to the entire Holly Springs Federated Improvement Women's Club membership."I want my African American people to know and appreciate their history."(Rev. Leona Harris, Director)
