Mickey Cassman has been the varsity wrestling coach at Troy High School, for the past four years. His team has just won the biggest wrestling match of the year. It was for the league championship. After the wrestling season ends, Mickey is informed that he is being transferred to Mayville high school. The Mayville wrestling program is in shambles and needs rebuilding.As the wrestling season begins, Coach Cassman is faced with many issues that the wrestlers present to him. The story portrays a high school coach helping his athletes overcome issues in their lives and building life-long experiences. Meanwhile, Coach Cassman is struggling with his own grief, after the death of his fiancEe, Mary, two years earlier. Mick is comfortably living alone, with no interest in meeting another woman. Mick doesn't realize that he is lonely, until he is introduced to the lovely, Shell Samuels. Mick and Sam begin to spend more time together. They are enjoying each other's company. Mick goes to see his therapist, Dr. Helen Morgan. Dr. Morgan uses some very profound examples, trying to help Mick realize that he can still love another woman.The Mayville wrestling team overcomes many of their personal challenges. The team decides to start a dream, as they work towards a championship.
