A note from the author I have always been fascinated by religious faith: the way it can be a source of comfort and good and yet be manipulated to make people do dreadful things. The Namesake is my attempt to explore this. It is set in a world where the religious elite have laboured to be a positive influence on society but as you can guess this does not last. On a broader level it is a story about how we must rise to the challenges that life throws at us.
