Allow me to welcome you to my small village "Kafre Nafra" north of Cairo, in the Delta of the Nile Valley, in the middle of nowhere. I will take you to other villages, small towns, big cities, and to Cairo. You will have a taste of ancient Egyptian history and modern history too. We will visit Aswan City where I had my first job as a physician at Aswan General Hospital and where the High Dam was built. We will stopover at Abu Simbel where the great ancient temples were saved by the United Nations from disappearing under the water south of the High Dam. We will see Hurghada City on the Red Sea where I worked at Hurghada General Hospital, then Tripoli, Libya where I worked in a clinic in the early 1980's. You would vacation with me at Tunisia, the island of Malta in the Mediterranean, Athens, and London before I visited the paradise of God on earth, the United States of America. This book is a true story about a boy who had a good childhood because he was born about a year after Nasser's 1952 revolution, which changed the history of Egypt achieving free education and healthcare to all citizens, building new schools, colleges, hospitals, health clinics, new roads, infrastructures, and factories. The author lived that history growing up and witnessed his country endure many struggles, like him, to be free and prosperous, and to manage their resources to move ahead into a better life. This book is about fate, many choices in life, good or bad, and about having no regrets. This is my journey, sometimes I chose my fate but other times fate chose me. I have lived and experienced unimaginable wars. I was fourteen during the six-day war June 5th, 1967 and witnessed what the nation had accomplished with hard work for almost fifteen years had been destroyed in six hours. I was there when President Anwar Al Sadat worked hard to stabilize his country after two wars in six years. He became my adulthood hero and achieved peace, security, and freedom for his people then was assassinated October 6th, 1981. History fell on my lap many times since I was born, lived it and grew up with it. I have lived many changes in my lifetime. I am proud of what God made me be and happy where I am, no regrets. If I do not like myself, other people won't like me. When I came to America, I felt I was in a better planet than the one that I was born and grew up in. I had a culture shock, came from a Muslim culture thinking that God not only had everything planned for me before I was born, but it was all written in God's books that angels recorded and updated. America is the land of opportunity. I was looking for a soul mate and when I met Kathleen I felt that fate brought us together. The best thing I ever did was marrying her. I ended my book with an Epilogue about my heroes that my life journey and History formed created and produced.
