Unconventional Warfare

A US Special Forces manual, Army Techniques Publication 3-05.1 Unconventional Warfare defines the term Unconventional Warfare as: Activities conducted to enable a resistance movement or insurgency to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power by operating through or with an underground, auxiliary, and guerrilla force in a denied area. ATP 3-05.1, Unconventional Warfare, is the US Army Special Forces' doctrinal foundation for Unconventional Warfare operations and is the broadest and most comprehensive United States Government doctrinal publication on the subject of Unconventional Warfare ever published. The manual details Unconventional Warfare fundamentals, activities and the considerations involved in planning and executing Unconventional Warfare operations in any political, ideological or physical environment.
