A few years in the future we find Jessie Monroe, a tough, smart, resilient ex-spy, working as a CIA data analyst. She was called back from her field assignment when covert operations were deemed unnecessary, since Russia is now a close ally to the United States. While analyzing satellite data, Jessie finds evidence that a foreign power is planning to attack U.S. networks. As she tries to raise the alarm, she encounters resistance caused by inept and weak leadership that cannot conceive that the U.S. still has enemies.
