Stuart Smith's Trail of the Guanaco "This is the first book by Stuart Smith, an exciting writer, who captures the imagination of the reader and paints a vivid picture of South America and the countries that he visited on his travels in 2002 . There are many adventures, mishaps, amusing stories and wonderful highlights of these travels across South America, with an amusing style of writing, which will hopefully delight along the way. The intention of the writer was to transform his travel journal into this book soon after 2002 but with work, marriage and children intervening, this was a slow process. Just like many people who have a dream, they need to persevere to make it a reality, although hopefully not taking 15 years in the making, as per this offering. In this eye-opening book, fresh on the writing scene author Stuart Smith explains his three to four months of travels across Latin America, undertaken with his French companion and friend at the time. It also contains a romantic fate, that captured his heart, when meeting an Argentinean lady of his dreams, in the most southern of cities "at the end of the World" Many aspects of this adventure could have ended in a less favourable outcome, if it were not for us both watching each other's back, throughout the possible more dangerous periods of this South American travel route. The route itself that was covered is similar to the travel itinerary of Ernesto "Che" Guevara and his Biochemist friend Alberto Granada in 1952. Their particular adventure took them through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, and to Miami, before returning home to Buenos Aires..." The difference with our journey to that of Che and Alberto, was that instead of Panama and Miami, we also visited Uruguay, Bolivia and Brazil and we did not travel on a 1939 Norton 500cc motorbike. It is sincerely hoped that this travel book and the nine countries that we experienced and travelled along the way, will result in as much enjoyment from its pages, as I enjoyed writing it. From Buenos Aires to Patagonia, Bariloche to Quito, or the wonders of Machu Picchu and across the Amazon, there will be many varieties of amazing places to explore."
