In this witty tale of a dog, her companions and a little girl, the author takes us along on their journey. Clarice, the little girl, is curious and asks Dash, the dog, what is on her face? Dash explains that it is called a muzzle and invites Clarice to take a walk with her."Here, come and walk with me, Clarice," she continued, "I will introduce you to other doggies, who also wear a muzzle. Dogs wear a muzzle for different reasons."Author note: Dash is a rescue. A mischievous, lovable, naughty, grey hair causing dog. A rendition of a true husky owner's life. She came into our lives 3 years ago. She was a feral dog living on the streets in Yellowknife. As dogs cannot speak our language, we could only guess what she had experienced in her early years. It was, however, pretty clear that she had been traumatized. She was reactive and lacking social skills. These past 3 years Dash has taught us love, patience, empathy, and understanding. She is the rescue who rescued me! I have chosen to write "What's On Your Nose?" to bring awareness to the reasons that dogs are muzzled and to educate children and adults alike that muzzles have a purpose; that they are not scary; and that when used correctly can "like a seatbelt" keep you safe.
