A NOW and THEN story brings together the past and the present. In "The Lost Locket" by Virginia Rank Griesse the pioneer past of the 1870s and the post-war happy days of the 1950s come together because of a gold locket engraved MRM. And a present-day Grandmother recalls the 'locket story' to her grandchildren. Maggie and her pioneer family settle a claim in Nebraska Territory near other settlements which become the town of Yorktown. Nearly one hundred years later Sandy finds a locket, engraved MRM, in a deserted farm-house outside of Yorktown. The reader is taken into both worlds with the young girls as Maggie adjusts to her new life on the prairie and Sandy begins a quest to find who this mysterious MRM can be. Each girl shows the characteristics of perseverance, hope and trust in the Lord as her story unfolds.
