Michigan Civil War Soldiers Index A - K Surnames

Sixty-two military units were formed in Michigan for service in the Civil War. Only a handful have firsthand accounts or full regimental histories available. The others are still waiting for someone to write a comprehensive account of their service. This index contains the name and unit of service for 140,262 men from Michigan who served in the Civil War. The National Archives Index contains 142,898 names. Some of these have been identified as duplicates and we have "curated" our index to add first and middle names where known when the records show only initials. We have available Historical Sketch and Roster Volumes on 53 of these units.
