This book is based on a young girl named Sasha and how her life changed once she moved to Virginia. Sasha was born and raised in Guyana with her mother, Leah, and her brothers and sister. She then moved to Virginia to live with her father, Arthur. Sasha wanted to get away from the hard life in Guyana, so when the opportunity presented itself for her to live with her father in the state, she jumped on it with no hesitation, unlike her brotherhe did not want to leave their mother.
