We Share The Same Sky : A Memoir

Change is inevitable. We all know this and yet it does not make the decisions that go along with change any more palatable. Often we wait, as if circumstance itself will alter. Then later, if we are wise, we acknowledge that we control only ourselves and that it is we who must always be willing to adjust. The summer of 2007, I stole away to New York City. It was the unmentionable, quiet quest of a woman on the eve of turning forty, facing the trials of so many other women. And just as I thought, it was a trip that changed everything. We Share the Same Sky revolves around the typical New York City experience: exploring neighborhoods and cultural enclaves, gorging at Manhattan's famous and not-so-famous restaurants and bakeries; and reflection on well-known and unfamiliar city landmarks and icons. And, woven throughout is a refreshing and intimate look into the Southern female psyche. A trip based upon a casual inquiry into the importance of maintaining identity and an exploration of the ever-changing neighborhoods became a journey of personal understanding. The memoir addresses the effect our beliefs have on the choices we make in our daily lives, for faith is the inextricable link that ties us all together.
