One response to violence committed by illegals trying to smuggle drugs and people into the New York area, was to increase surveillance. USCG boats and cutters were being shot-up by gangs from Mexico and Central America. Major Greg Mordant was asked to use Sniperbird, an armed RPV to counter this increase in violence
