Good-hearted Max Bradley (12), the proud owner of a Schwinn Phantom, the greatest bike in existence up till the summer of '63, is seduced into evil by Sandy Driscoll (14), an ultra cool, self-destructive newcomer who rides a custom-built muscle bike, the forerunner of the Stingray, the next great thing on wheels.
