Popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, Bhimrao Ambedkar was born in Madhya Pradesh on April 14, 1891, to Ramji Maloji Sakpal (Subedar in the Indian Army) and Bhimabai Sakpal. Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, social reformer, and political leader. He was incharge of the committee that wrote the Indian Constitution. Ambedkar played a significant role in ensuring that Dalits and various other underprivileged communities had their rights and were protected when the Indian Constitution was being written. He also laboured to advance women and other oppressed groups while advocating for the elimination of the caste system.
