Redes, capital humano e geografias da competitividade

No âmbito da XVI Semana Cultural da Universidade de Coimbra (2014) reuniu-se um conjunto de investigadores que, partilhando das mesmas preocupações científicas, discutiu problemática(s) em torno do tema das redes, do capital humano e das geografias da competitividade. Daqui resultou um conjunto de trabalhos de investigação sobre as relações territoriais contemporâneas, entre as lógicas espaciais contínuas e as descontínuas, as euclidianas e as topológicas, em que além das velhas questões geográficas, mais lentas, contam hoje também as relações mais rápidas e tecnologicamente mediatas e estruturadas em redes. A urgência dos estudos nesta área resulta da importância que as redes têm na afirmação estratégica dos lugares, ganhando interesse a análise das relações de proximidade e de continuidade geográfica, assim como também as relações descontínuas, as que procuram associações de afinidades estratégicas ainda que estas estejam marcadas por posições geográficas distantes e fragmentadas. A discussão desenvolve-se por isso em torno do entendimento de como a afirmação estratégica dos lugares, por um lado, e a promoção do capital humano, por outro, dependem ao mesmo tempo das velhas e das novas geografias, das relações de proximidade, relações à distância (em redes) e ainda da resiliência das populações, no sentido de capacidade de adaptação e resposta reativa e proactiva. In the scope of the 16th Cultural Week of the University of Coimbra(2014) with as reunited a set of investigators who, sharing the same scientific concerns, discuss the issue(s) around the subjects of networks, human capital and geography of competiveness. It resulted in a set of research works about contemporary territorial relations, between continuous spatial logics and discontinued, Euclidian and topological in which, apart from the old geographical issues, slower, it were considered also the faster and technological mediate and networks structured relations. The urgency of studies in this are results from the importance that networks have in the strategical settlement of locations, gaining interest the analysis of the relations of geographic proximity and continuity, as well as the discontinued relations, those that seek strategic affinity associations yet scarred by distant and fragmented geographical positions. The discussion is, thus, developed around the understanding of how the strategic affirmation of places, on one hand, and the promotion of human capital, on the other, depend, at the same time, on old and new geographies, on the relations of proximity, relations at a distance (in networks) and still of the resilience of populations in the sense of the capability to adapt and answer reactively and proactively.
