The Bible is a book of two principal covenants namely: the Old Covenant or Old Testament and the New Covenant or New Testament. While the Old Covenant also known as 'the Law' was a mutual agreement between God and the children of Israel sanctioned by the blood of an animal and aimed at meeting their needs if they keep their part of the deal, the New Covenant was a unilateral covenant which God made with Jesus principally to be a vehicle through which He'd dispense His unmerited, undeserved and unearned favours to humanity. A careful study of the Bible reveals that Israel could not keep the laws of the covenant and this necessitated the Covenant of Grace which would be God's universal covenant for all mankind. Jesus was the representative of man on one side and God's representative on the other side and the covenant was made effective with His blood. The purpose of the covenant was basically to meet all the requirements for relationship with a holy God. This means that God Himself became a man and lived as man on behalf of man as his legal substitute and met all the requirements of the law and finally died to acquit him of all his sins and bring him into absolute union with Himself as His child. The blessings of this covenant are simply received, not achieved. In the Covenant of Grace, I will take you through a detailed study on the New Covenant. The book is divided into three parts. While the first part deals with understanding covenants, the second part is centred on the unique factor of the New Covenant called 'Grace'. Then, I'll concluded with Our New Covenant rights and privileges.
