Nicholas Klaus, or Nick as he preferred, was a man in his mid-sixties, bald save for the fringe, or "halo" of almost-white hair surrounding his head. He was just over five-and-a-half feet tall, and could stand to lose a little weight. He was not huge, but most people described him as plump.
