The Portuguese Podengo is a rare breed that closely resembles his cousins: the Pharaoh Hound, Cirneco dell Etna and Ibizan Hound. They are a very energetic and happy dog that does best within a pack or at least with one other dog in the home. They are a social animal that also does well with children. They require a tall fence because they have the ability to jump unbelievably high. Strong and sturdy, they come in three distinct sizes. The Grande and Medio sizes are very similar and many registries do not distinguish between the two. Most registries do distinguish between the Portuguese Podengo and the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno.
