The Becks, Michael and Kirsten, are a young couple buying their first home. It's an older house that needs a little work but it has a lot of space, a big yard and is at the end of a dead end street. Even better, their backyard is up against a hundred acres of conservation land where no development will ever be allowed. They even get a dog for company - a rescue named Mister. The dog learns to love his new home and becomes its protector as he chases away the squirrels and other wildlife that pass through. All is as it should be until, one evening, Kirsten sees something coming from the woods, something just out of view. That something races towards them and chases Kirsten and Mister into the house. The animal returns again and again, rummaging through trash, breaking their fence and their back door. The becks enlist the help of the local animal control officer to assist them with their situation but, as they soon learn, the wildlife does not want to be controlled. Their visitor is far more dangerous than they ever believed and it will take all their effort and some help from the authorities to keep them safe from The Eyes in the Dark.
