Destinations: Poems on Travel, Change, and Transition has been a work in progress since 2013, when Charlie Leppert began writing poetry. The collection includes poems selected from the work that took place over the following three years. The anthology focuses on travel, change, and transition, in the context of leaving high school and entering college, the author's transgender identity, the symbolic promise of travel that gives a special brand of hope, and the everyday fluctuations of life that we all live with. What Destinations follows is not the journey from Point A to Point B, but the journey towards self-identification, and the process of learning that, sometimes, to look inwards, we must first look out.
