Lorraine thinks she is on the trip of a lifetime seeing Ireland like she has always wanted to do but she got more than she bargained for after one really bad pub fight that led to her being whisked away to a new underground world known as the dragon realms. Hidden far beneath Ireland, she discovers that dragons not only exist but can take a human form and need human females such as herself to repopulate their race. Upon their discovery of her, she discovers very much about them and a handsome dragon male named Darius who wants to claim her for his own if he can complete his obligation to the circle to help repopulate the dragons of the realm and save each species from going extinct. With all these matters in place and all these events and circumstances set into motion, the dragons of the realms must look to both Darius and Raine (formerly known as Lorraine) to help save each species and race. It takes three to make a dragon baby. With this basic instinctual knowledge and a little magic on the side every now and then in the story Raine must mate with each dragon male Lord of the realms and their consorts creating dragons and repopulating their species within their realms. This is called, turning the outer circle. Raine goes above and beyond to not only repopulate the dragon realms but turn something that is only understood to her and a few select male dragon Lords, known as turning of the inner circle where she repopulates not only their species but helps to create and recreate three new species of dragons that had not been seen in centuries or decades. Upon her completion of these tasks she begins to question her sanity and even her own purpose as she does what she has vowed to do, repopulate the dragon realms and fulfill her purpose as a dragon maiden. Each time she takes the ring she must kneel before them. Once she has completely turned the circle though, they are bowing before her. The dragon males challenge one another for her hand in marriage and the right to claim her only to later join forces against the dragon of death, also known as the night dragon in order to save her life and preserve her life with as much regard as they had given their own. Raine finds herself in conflict both emotionally and occasionally physically with some dragons in the story. She raises at least two baby dragons as her own and fights to the death to protect her brood of baby dragons from the clutches of a very selfish dragon Lord father who used her to repopulate his species and then had her punished for standing up to him when he was a belligerent male dragon. It is then that Raine must make her stand against dragon kind and oddly enough, her stand isn't just for her own rights but for the rights of her unborn dragon children whom she must carry to full term. Dragons need the body temperature of human females. Once she completes her breeding purposes she finds herself in emotional turmoil over which dragon male Lord she loves and she finds herself drawn to the one who found her as well as the other male dragon Lords of the inner circle. She does what she feels she has to do and things which she is drawn to do without understanding even why at times that she feels that she needs to do them. This story is a tale of several dragons, the politics of their outer and inner circles, and the dragon maiden who must save them all and in some ways, save herself to reunite with the Dragon Lord whom she loves the most.
