Advent is traditionally the time observed preceding Christmas that includes the four Sunday's before it. Advent is translated as the coming of something awaited or of extreme importance. As we consider the gravity of the birth of the long awaited Messiah, the Christ, it is fitting we pause and consider his coming. Many spend this time in prayer, penitence and fasting.
