Ross Sutton has been a field operative for CSIS for ten years and his record has been exemplary. He has traveled the world on assignments and has faced death more times than he cares to remember.During March of 2002 while stationed in Kuala Lumpur, he accompanies a fellow agent to meet a man who for a fee of one hundred thousand U.S. Dollars is prepared to divulge a plot to ship a cache of weapons to the Middle East. During the trip their car is ambushed and Sutton is left for dead. He is found and so is the money. When he recovers from his wounds he is accused of selling secrets to the Malaysian Government. Unable to prove his innocence, he is dishonourably discharged and has to find his way in the civilian world.Sutton is a man of strong ideals and is determined to find evidence to clear his name. During his search he unearths a terrorist initiative against several cities in North America to be carried out in August of 2003 under the cover of a massive black out. He knows that he will have to operate outside of the law but in order to do this he will also have to sacrifice his principles. He has always believed that a person has two optionsto be law abiding or to break the lawhe is not aware that there has always been a middle ground. Some would call it a third alternative.
